I want to extend my hand to Tom Windows, Joy Okelo Roy Karuhize , and everyone else at Scanad that played a role in Migz’s journey to becoming the renowned photographer we all know and love.
After leaving Scani, Migz collaborated with talented art directors from various agencies. However, his most cherished relationships were with Oscar Abuko , who opened many doors for him in top-notch assignments, and Jason Bruckner, who selected Migz at the ideal moment for a job that truly mattered.
House of Panache has evolved organically from a modest radio ad demo studio into who we are today.
Thanks to my experience and tenure in the industry, I have access to some of the brightest and best minds across all fields and can assemble custom teams precisely tailored to each client’s needs.
Migz was not given preferential treatment when it came to our projects.
His selection was not based on favoritism, but rather on his exceptional skills, ingenuity, and the remarkable human being he was on set.
He never embarrassed anyone and had a knack for making models feel like superstars.
His ability to capture the essence of a product or service left clients feeling like we made the best possible choice for them.
Joseph Thuo took his current profile picture on LinkedIn and Instagram on a beach in Dar es Salaam.
Migz was instructing me to walk like I’d made it, like a superstar coming out from an ocean of advertising with crap adjectives and abbreviations like GTM, GMT,OOH, IYKYK, EOD, GHC exploding in the backdrop…
I’d gained some weight then and I was cooperating until he shouted,
“HOP is international, Viyerrah, walk like a boss, look big not fat!!!“
I laughed so hard that we ended up not doing it.
At that moment, despite our fledgling status, it was a significant gig for us, and having Migz as our first international photographer was surreal.
At HOP, we’ve learnt to reject the allure of artificial flowers devoid of fragrance. Our work extends beyond aesthetics; it emanates from the soul. Here, you will find individuals who embody artistry in their very essence. Their passion, commitment, and desire to create work that positively impacts humanity will resonate with you.
Migz epitomized this philosophy.
Although our growth has not been as meteoric, we now operate in four markets and have partnered with a PH in Ethiopia, expanding our reach to a fifth market.
Migz would have exclaimed, “NA BADO!” to such accomplishments.
He was brought up to be happy for you, regardless of how small the milestone seemed.💔
To see how much Migz meant to us and all the communities represented in this group is truly humbling and amazing.
I can’t claim to mourn more than anyone else, but here at HOP, our GOAT has left us – a great friend.
To @Jose EyeQ , you have big shoes to fill.
I saw you grow as Migwa’s garagaria, to the beast you have become.
Anyone that knows Migz that he overly mentored you and wjile I acknowledge his shoes cant be filled, from a work POV, I pray you keep his embers glowing through character, professionalism and being thereness.
To everyone in this group, I’m profoundly sorry for your loss.😢😢
As we gather at Bapo (Nairobi Baptist Church, next to Daystar) later today, most of us will be attending church for the first time in years.
Wish it was for any other reason but to God be the glory even in this difficult season.
It’s going to be very emotional.
We won’t judge; we’ll be mourning too.
May we leave there as incarnations of Migz – colleagues worth talking about, just as he has been to most of us that were not his family or attended Saint Marys.
Thank you,
Viyerrah Wagara
House of Panache.
